ABOUT OUR SCHOOL: Environment, History and Catchment

Dewstow Primary & Nursery School opened in September 2012 and is an amalgamation of West End Infant School and Green Lane Junior School. We moved into the new building in November 2012.  The school is surrounded with evidence from Caldicot's rich historical past with Caldicot Castle and Dewstow Gardens both within a short distance.

Our school is a bright and modern school, fully equipped for 21st Century education.  We have four Learning Plazas built around a beautiful internal courtyard.  Plaza Gwanwyn (Nursery and Reception), Plaza Haf (Year 1 and 2), Plaza Hydref (Year 3 and 4) and Plaza Gaeaf (Year 5 and 6) which all have 'cool zones' that allow learners to access outdoor learning and play directly.  The school hall is used for PE, assemblies, productions, lunch and breakfast club.

There are a number of additional teaching areas including a Sensory Room, ELSA Room, Music Room, Food Technology/Family Learning Room, Library and a Science/Technology area.  KS1 learners have secure outdoor play areas.  All learners have access to the playground and the playing field.

The school offers part-time education for learners aged 3-4 years in our Nursery.  Children are offered a Nursery place the term after their third birthday in September, January and April.

Full-time education is offered from 4 to 11+ years, at which stage transfer is made to secondary education.  Dewstow Primary & Nursery School is part of the Caldicot Secondary School cluster. All applications for school entry should be made to Monmouthshire Local Authority.
